I currently have a very high credit score (~800) and have never made a late payment. Right now, my credit card is at about $4500, and I am having trouble staying ahead of the interest. I am thinking about consolidating my credit card debt, but don't know much about it. If I did, I would continue to make every payment on time, etc, but I just wondered if the act of consolidation in itself would adversely affect my credit rating. Does anyone know?

Just make sure your balance stays below 30% of your CL

if you can't stay ahead of the interest, the credit score doesn't matter so much, does it? Credit scores can always be improved; in fact, I have the website of a national credit restoration firm around here somewhere, I'll post it if I ever find it..... Anyway, the point is that you should utilize your credit and/or discharge the cards (get rid of the 'debt') before you concern yourself with your score.
