I have to say that Capital One is the best! I've had a United Mileage Plus & Southwest credit cards.
Capital One doesn't have an annual fee. That was the draw for me. Also you can use the miles on most major airlines.
I use mine on Southwest flights all the time! If the ticket is under $150 it only costs 15000 miles. With Southwest DING! you can find some awesome deals! If the ticket is $150.01 - $350 it costs 35000 miles. Not the best deal around since most carriers charge 25000 for a continental US flight. It's all about the deals you can find, where YOU fly most & how often you use a credit card. We use our credit card for everything possible to get the points. I should add we pay it off every month. If you aren't in a position to do this then I wouldn't recommend racking up interest to get miles.
Hope this helps you decide what to do.
Oh yeah.....most of the airline credit cards offer bonus miles & wave the first year annual fee (the American Airlines one I just got offered was $85 a year!!!!) It just depends on what your personal needs & air travel style are.
