In NY State, is it legal for a liquor shop to film your signature as you sign...
...a credit card slip? I noticed the other day that my local liquor and wine shop has multiple cameras going at all times. The shopkeeper has a tv monitor at the front desk where you can see all the shot's they are recording. I noticed that I could see my hand signing the credit card slip. I have no problem in general with security measures but in this case it seems a bit odd. Coudn't they somehow create a forgery. I know they could do this from the signed reciept but the whole thing just struck me as odd.
If it is legal, does anyone know what the shopkeeper is trying to prevent by doign this? Protect against forgery or use of stolen credit cards? Thanks.
