Default is it possible to book hotel in the US with no credit card?

I don't have a credit card, but I need to book us a room in Las Vegas and one i Williams.
Is it possible ?
I mean everywhere I try, it seem you need a card to book in advance.
Are the hotels that will say that a passportnumber is enough?
If I can't book it in advance, is it possible to walk into a hotel and get a room by paying cash at the frontdesk ?
Please inform me.
Thanks,
Arthur

Yes u can, but u must put down a heavy deposit, try a cheaper place, like a motel. No a passport is not enough cuz if u steal any hotel stuff then how can they charge u if u dont have a credit card, thats when they can keep your deposit. Ask if they take deposit. I wouldnt recomend after a long flight to go hotel hunting, its too exhausting and u dont know the state well. Maybe a hostel may take u with no card.

You will not find a single chain hotel or motel that will let you walk in and just pay cash up front. It is just policy. You however find non-chain motels which are the cheap of the cheap which may allow you to do this.

If you don't have a credit card, how about a debit card? If not, then is it not possible for you to purchase pre-paid credit cards in the Netherlands, usually available at post offices?

Secondly, if you have no credit or debit card, then how are you going to pay for your flights?

yes, you will need a credit card to book a room with any hotel in vegas. only motels accepts cash at the front desk and you probably don't need to book those room in advance. Why don't you get a check card? You can use those like a credit card.
