A Platinum PLUS+++ No but for real, if you have no credit, just start out with whatever you can get accepted for. Your interest rate (APR) will start out high, but if you always pay your bill you won't have to worry and it will build your credit. Then you will get accepted for better cards.

If, you can possibly help it, try not to get any credit cards, all they do is keep you in debt.

I would recommend a card with a low limit, not more than $500. That way, the monthly payments are affordable, and the person can start establishing credit.

I have heard good things about Chase and Capital One. If you have a credit union, you can get starter cards with them sometimes.

I started with JCPenney department store.
