Default Do Travel sites charge your credit card as soon as you book?

I am wondering if they charge your credit card the day of orput a credit hold on you credit card until the trip. I basically need to know when they charge you.

most would charge the day you booked. A few give you an option.

When I booked through Expedia.com (flight only) I was charged on the day I made the booking.

However when I made hotel reservations, I wasn't charged or had any credit put on hold until the day that I checked into the hotel.

When I checked into the hotel they took the total cost of my stay and put an an extra hundred or so on hold, this was just to cover any damages etc that you may cause, but as soon as you check out, they take the hold off and you get that back, providing there are no damages of course.

This procedure also applies with car rentals.

Expedia.com charge right away, though you can select the option to pay nearer the time,or pay over the course of 6 months.

Expedia.com also doesn't make any extra charges for using a credit card too.

Hotwire does..even if you are merely renting a car...others make you pay right away especially a package deal with air and hotel and maybe a car. By paying one big price for everything..you never really know.,.how much the air fare was or the hotel was individually. Thet way..they keep it amingst themselves..and you still get the best of all worlds.

They charge when you book the trip. Travel Agencies will only require a deposit and when you get close to your trip you pay the balance.)
