Default Any extra charges for using a credit card (mastercard/visa) internationally?

I will be visiting Singapore in the near future and my friends' parents live there. I intend to gift them a little something on their anniversary next month. I found this Singaporean website that seems to cater to the locals. It lets me buy their products in their currency and ship it to any local address there. Is it legal for me to purchase using my US credit card on their website and will I be charged extra?
