no when you take the item back with receipt it goes back on the card used . unless you dont show the receipt then you may get a credit at that store .or cash .?

You will only get store credit or the credit card will be credited.

There is a twisted way to get cash back in such cases, I don't recommend it but I have seen it work in BestBuy.

You return an item and get store credit. With the store credit, you buy an item with a value slightly higher than your store credit. You pay the difference in cash.

Now return this thing and get the full cash back.

I have seen a friend doing this about an year ago. As you may yourself have noticed, this is not entirely honest.
