Default stolen credit card fraud?

If I "lose" my credit card at the mall and then go shopping on it (a couple hundred dollars at most) and call the credit card company later that day to report it lost, what would happen? I have an American Express card through Bank of America. Im assuming they would credit me the charges I say I didn't make and issue me a new card. Would a police report be filed? Would they take the effort to look into the unauthorized credit card usage (i.e. checking surveillance video at the mall or stores where it was used)? Would my credit score drop at all (I have only had the card for about 8 months and I have another card that I've had much longer)? What would be my chances of getting caught?

Please spare me all moral and ethical responses.
