...Credit Card? I have my bank a/c in CitiBank but when I applied for a credit card, I got rejected from the bank, giving me the reason as that I don't have a permanent residence in USA. But I'm living off campus, in an apartment. Please advice me... Thanks.

im not sure u can apply for the credit card here, unless u do it back at home. or if u have any documents from college proving that you're gonna be in the states for this long period of time bla bla but having an account is a plus already.

call the banks phone number and ask a customer service rep.

most likely, they don't consider it a permanent address if you haven't lived there for 6 months or more. i know many credit cards will not accept you if you do not have a U.S. social security number. you either have no credit established here in the U.S. or you will have to apply for a card based in your home country.

If you're a student, that means that you'll only be here a short time (4-5yrs tops). Why should he U.S. carry the debt that you'll probably leave behind? Sorry

Banks do need a permanent type address so I would suggest that you contact them again, advise them of your off Campus address and provide them with a couple of Bills showing that address. Utility Accounts or Bank Statements are generally acceptable. Good Luck
